Raised in Wollongong, on the New South Wales South Coast, Nic moved to Sydney to undertake a degree in Nuclear Medicine Science at the University of Sydney. After graduating he secured a role at Advanced Nuclear Medicine Associates. Working for practice owners, Professor Roger Uren and Professor Robert Howman-Giles (both leaders in their fields), was a pivotal point in his career. Professor Uren pioneered Lymphoscintigraphy and the sentinel node biopsy in melanoma, and breast and prostate cancer, while Professor Howman-Giles is a leader in paediatric nuclear medicine. Both are world renowned and their research has continued to shape the way patients are treated today.

The nine years Nic spent with professors Uren and Howman-Giles had a profound and enduring impact, and would inform his entire career. Both men put their patients first. Whether making business decisions or investment planning, patient respect and wellbeing were always the priority.

It was during this time that Nic was approached for a role at Siemens Medical, in its molecular imaging division. So began the commercial experience on which he has since set his career, having worked across the Australasian region participating in projects for Singapore, Japan, Korea and New Zealand.

Four years into his tenure at Siemens, Nic was approached for a role at the rapidly growing Synthes Australia. After a rigorous interview process, Nic began his time servicing orthopaedic trauma surgeries throughout Sydney. During this time, he contributed to the growth of the company by securing several significant State and Local Health District contracts, some of which are now in their 10th year of renewal. After this Nic held various commercial roles at companies such as Johnson and Johnson (J&J) and Hillrom. 

In tandem with business outcomes, Nic was focused on the intrinsic need to support action that strengthens businesses over the long term. While at J&J, Nic was an active proponent for its Women in Leadership initiative. He was also a committee member for the Macquarie Park Corporate Committee, which saw many companies in the Macquarie Park precinct unite to support the surrounding local communities.
